Sexualität ist längst kein ausschließlich privates Thema mehr, denn kaum ein Bereich des Intimlebens wurde noch nicht erforscht oder analysiert. Wissenschaft kann aber nur einen Zugang zu einem so hoch emotionalen sowie komplexen Thema finden. Die Kunst findet daher oft einen ganz eigenen Weg die facettenreiche menschliche Sexualität zu beleuchten.

Zahlreiche zeitgenössische Künstler*Innen, allen voran Weibliche, prüfen das gesellschaftliche Frauen*bild. Viele der Künstler*Innen verwenden ihre eigenen Körper in ihrer Arbeit und entwickeln dadurch oftmals diskussionswürdige Widersprüche. Hier erscheint der Körper als Subjekt, Objekt, Modell, Werkzeug- und Bezugsfeld.

Sexuality has long ceased to be an exclusively private topic, as there is hardly any area of intimate, private life that has not been researched or analyzed. Science, however, can only go so far investigating a theme that is both highly emotional and complex. It is art that often finds its own distinctive way to illuminate the multifaceted nature of human sexuality. 

Numerous contemporary artists, first and foremost female, are examining the social image and perception of women. Many of these artists use their own bodies in their work and in this way often develop contradictions worthy of discussion. Here the body emerges as subject, object, model, tool – and field of reference.
